Profile:

BOS Point Guard: 5’9, 185 lbs; 7th year, Washington

NBA Role: savvy, star lead guard

What Isaiah Thomas lacks in height, he makes up in excellent creativity and toughness on the court; a practictioner and devout believer of Nate Robinson’s mantra, ‘Heart Over Height, the Tacoma native is a cunning playmaker whose offense has evolved every season* – high-level of command operating pick & rolls, makes patient, reactive reads; great at drawing fouls and absorbing contact – IT also features a bit of finesse too: (ever so slightly) freezes mid-air before performing scoop layups; has some of the best hezzies in the league – and they’re not always nasty, just effective like this; pure scorer who heats up in a hurry: Isaiah’s tough to stop coming off screens, can knock down Js from anywhere off the dribble; still needs to work on defensive intensity (fighting over screens, picking up PGs before they cross the timeline**) & shot selection but there’s no questioning IT’s status as an All-Star w/ pure takeover ability; born leader: Thomas always seems to have his guys believe in him; Boston’s undisputed franchise player

*IT evolved into one of the league’s toughest covers, avg. just under 29/night in ’16-’17

**Doesn’t need to be a full-court press or occur more than 15x during any given game – Thomas just needs to break it out to chop off a few seconds on the clock & muck up a team’s offensive flow (won’t always work but why not try?)
