Free agency kicks off tomorrow night (12:01 ET, July 1st), so a flurry of minor moves and transactions are around the corner. Today, the Detroit Pistons traded sharpshooter Jodie Meeks to Orlando to free up cap space for the summer.
It’s time to re-up on All-Star Andre Drummond (RFA), so the trade was strictly a “business” move. However, acquiring Meeks is a pretty nice coup for Frank Vogel and the Magic, who struggled to knock down the long ball a year ago.
Meeks should see plenty of minutes in the backcourt (if healthy) and is a stable, veteran option to play alongside Elfrid Payton.
The Meeks deal isn’t earth-shattering by any means – it’s just another reminder we’ve entered trade SZN…
