We have a trade! (Chris Humphreys/USA TODAY Sports)

In the first deal of the offseason, the Detroit Pistons dealt backup PG Spencer Dinwiddie to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for seldom-used forward Cameron Bairstow.

*What a splash!*

It’s a low-risk maneuver for both teams, as Dinwiddie and Bairstow have non-guaranteed deals. Dinwiddie (6’6) is a big PG who represents a nice contrast to Chicago’s normal, “small” ball-handlers like Nate Robinson, D.J. Augustin & Aaron Brooks.

He’s pretty good at probing in the lane, has size to defend and is improving from the outside. There will be plenty of opportunities for Dinwiddie to showcase his skills next fall.

Cam Bairstow has played sparingly over the course of two seasons, tallying just 44 points in that span. He’s more of a project big without defined NBA talent, so it’s worth monitoring whether Detroit decides to keep him around.

But there you have it…Dinwiddie for Bairstow aka the unofficial beginning of the offseason.
